Symposium “Sobre Salud Mental Perinatal” @Sociedad Marce Espanola, Spain
With the objective of collaborating in the dissemination of the campaign of the International Day of Maternal Mental Health (May 3, 2017), a symposium to discuss relevant aspects in the field of Perinatal Mental Health has been organized at the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences of the University of Zaragoza (Campus Teruel). The symposium is organized by Dr. Jorge Osma, professor of the Department of Psychology and Sociology of Unizar and vice-president of the Spanish Marcé Society for Perinatal Mental Health (MARES). Maternal Mental Health Awareness weeks

“Amplifying our voices for change” @MayCampaign, Los Angeles, USA
The National Coalition for Maternal Mental Health is encouraging organizations, communities and individuals to #connectthedots and become a partner to raise awareness for the number one complication of childbirth to connect families, communities and providers to ensure every mother and baby thrive. You can become an Awareness Partner here and re-tweet and re-post digital shareable messages from NCMMH’s twitter and facebook accounts starting May 1st and running till May 7th.

UK Maternal Mental Health Awareness Week  , United Kingdom
During the week, the focus will be on how and where mums can seek help and support for their mental health. Women and their family and friends need to know where they can find help and support for perinatal mental health problems.
To help with this, Perinatal Mental Health Partnership (PMHP) is planning to run themed days on their social media and other exciting events which you can access on their Facebook page or on the UK Maternal Mental Health Alliance website.

“HOPE – art and music showcase” @United Kingdom
The ‘Hope’ event for Maternal Mental Health Awareness Week, will provide FREE creative therapy workshops in Stockton. Find out more on their Facebook page.

Toronto Transit campaign @TOPublicHealth, Canada
Toronto Public Health has launched a campaign, displaying vertical posters promoting maternal mental health on subway cars. The same posters will be displayed on digital screens throughout the underground subway system, hundreds of community agencies such as community centres, medical facilities, libraries and in two local newspapers. Symposium “Mental Health Awareness for Healthy Mothers Healthy Generations” @Marmara University, Health Sciences Faculty, Istanbul, Turkey
This symposium for Midwifery and Nursing Students and Academic Staff touches on several maternal mental health topics such as ‘The effects of maternal prenatal stress on mother and offspring development’ and ‘When a patient with mental illness get pregnant’. Prevention of Postpartum Depression for Women @Perinatal Psychiatry Unit, Guéret, France
Together with partners in the perinatal network of CREUSE (Midwives of the Maternity Hospital of Guéret, Nurses and psychologist of the PMI – Maternal and Child Protection of the CREUSE) and with the assistance of the “Maman Blues” Association the 
Perinatal Psychiatry Unit of GUERET is organising a gathering. This will be an opportunity for the professionals of the different teams to propose a space and a time of reception, of discussion to the public to testify on the importance for the women already moms and future moms to be able to speak about it and not to remain isolated.

Round Table Día mundial de la salud mental materna” @Sociedad Marce Espanola, Spain
In order to spread the word about the campaign of International Day of Maternal Mental Health (May 3, 2017), the Hospital Clínic of Barcelona, in collaboration with the Spanish Marcé Society for Perinatal Mental Health (MARES), has organized a Round Table on Perinatal Depression, entitled “When Maternity is not what I was told.” With the participation of Dr. Gracia Lasheras, president of MARES, Dr. Lluïsa Garcia-Esteve, coordinator of the Program of Psychiatry and Perinatal Psychology of the H. Clinic of Barcelona, and two testimonies: Kerry Kurtzman, testimony of postpartum depression, And Maria Fusté, testimony of a complicated pregnancy. Meet Up “Maternal Mental Health” @Ashanti Cafe, Elora, Canada
Come and meet at Ashanti Café in Elora, Ontario, Canada on Wed May 3rd from 2-3pm. Dr. Vivian Polak, perinatal psychiatrist, will be there to meet informally with mothers and any other community members who are interested in talking about how maternal mental health matters and how we can help encourage more women to get the help they need. Let’s open doors to talk together so we can close the door on stigma. Anyone wanting to share your own personal story – an extra special welcome to you! You can download the poster for this event.

Postpartum Support Network Africa in Kenya will be marking the World Maternal Mental Health Day on 3rd May 2017 in Kawangware and Kaberia, Nairobi Kenya by educating the local women on PMADs and its effects, mental illnesses frequently unnoticed and untreated and the tragic and long-term consequences to both mother and child. In addition, Postpartum Support Network Africa in Kenya has partnered with mental health care workers and will be informing the mums and families how and where they can seek help and support for perinatal mental health problems. Stroller walk and talk in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada
Come to Our Place (ourplacekw.ca) – an Early Years Centre in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada – on May 3rd at 10AM for a stroller walk and talk. Local politicians from all levels of government have been invited and I understand that at least two will be there. Dr. Vivian Polak, perinatal psychiatrist, will also be there. The day starts at 11am and ends with a snack at 4pm in the psychiatric hospital with different events. In the evening, a movie theatre has a special evening for us with a film “Un heureux évènement” about a difficult pregnancy and its impact on the couple.
